Hi Guys,

This is a response to a friend in Utah about current world events. I've expanded it a little as more thoughts came to me. Plus an email under that forwarded from a friend in the U.K.

Hi Bro,

I understand your feelings right now. It's difficult not to react when you start discovering things you've never known about one's country. No country is left out of this. Remember we all live under the prince of the power of the air. (Eph 2:2.)

The kingdoms of men are always up and down. Whether that be the stock market or food industry or anything else. We are asked to use what we are given for our sustenance on the earth, but not to rely upon them for our security. All things earthly have an end. Matt 6:25. Rom 14:17.

There has only been one Kingdom that stands secure. It is this Kingdom that Prophet Daniel saw filling the earth in Daniel 7. This is the Stone cut without hands! Daniel 2:44 - 45.

But remember Apostle Paul's instruction:

"Pray for our leaders, for they are God's ministers to execute judgement..." Rom 13:1-7 (Yet the Apostles knew when it was right to obey God and not man -- Acts 5:29. They never jeopardized God's Word to obey men.)

"Put them in mind to be subject to..." Titus 3:1-2

"I would that prayers be made for all rulers, authorities..." 1 Tim 2:1-2

He was living in the days of the Roman emperor, Nero.

How could he say these words of blessing in the face of what all the Christians were going through? They were being fed to the lions, killed in stadiums for sport, falsely accused that they had burnt down Rome. But yet he said, "Pray".

He had caught sight of the Divine perspective: "All things work together for good..."

Yes, they had to flee from city to city. For God does direct us to flee for our own safety. Remember Christ's words to them when the time of Jerusalem's destruction in AD 70 would come -- Matt 24:16. And history does attest that those who fled were kept safe.

So my brother, take heart. God knows your needs. Keep the focus on Him. The things that will be shaken will be always be shaken. Turn your focus from all the fear-mongering (scaremongering?) from both camps and focus on the Camp from Above - where you are seated and in which you live. Complete news is important (getting all points of view), but don't let it detract from the Truth - which is Christ. Live day-to-day as He gives us all strength.

Our Lord will never forget our needs in all situations.

Why allow these things to continue unabated? The iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full. (Gen 15:13-16)

The timetable is winding down.

Blessings to you my friend.

P.S. Pray for the Carribeans ( Hurricaine Dean), the Peruvians (Earthquake), the North Koreans (devastating floods), the trapped Chinese miners (>100), the trapped Utah miners. Creation continues to reel. There is so much happening in our earth. Our job is to lift up ALL creation before our Father of Lights (James 1:17): that mercy may come, and that it come speedily!

Why do these things happen, you say? I can only respond with Luke 13:4-5. Our Lord says people suffering in these disasters are equivalent to someone who doesn't repent (reconsidering our ways and returning). Suffering loss, being marred, perishing. Loss of body or soul. All things are equal in His eyes. Whether a group are gunned down; a lightening bolt kills a crowd; necks are slashed in an orgy of violence. As a fruit is cast away that is rotten, so also are all these things injurious to soul and body. His prime concern is with our spirits. Yet even these events are not the end, sad as they are. There is hope. Within that perishing fruit lies a seed. A seed that can once again spring forth with new life! -- (Job 14:7-22 - Hope for a cut tree)

Is that an answer? Only the Judgement seat of Christ can answer all things. Each of us is going to face it and each of us will be judged by our works. So we must do all we can for all we can, while we can. (Ponder that.)

"Father. Have Mercy!"

He is there!    17th Aug 2007

In a dream, a man once saw Jesus approach three praying women. He knelt beside the first with great tenderness and love. At the second, He simply placed His hand on her head and gave her a look of approval. He passed by the third without even stopping. Sensing the man's bewilderment, Jesus explained, 'Without constant assurance, the first woman would stumble and fall. The second woman's faith is stronger; I can count on her. The third, however, is being trained for the highest calling of all. She knows Me so intimately that she doesn't need signs of My approval. No circumstance discourages her because she knows that ultimately she can trust Me.'
Being sinful, we fail. Being prone to sickness, we hurt. Being mortal, we die. Pressure wears us down. Anxiety gives us ulcers. People intimidate us. Criticism offends us. Disease scares us. Death haunts us. What's the answer? 'God is very trouble' (Psalm 46:1).
Never doubt in the dark what God told you in the light. He is with you day by day on your pilgrimage; His unsearchable mind, working in concert with His unfathomable will, is carrying things out under His sovereign control.
When we hit rough spots, our tendency is to feel abandoned, yet the opposite is true, for at that moment we are more than ever the object of His love and concern. Yes, even when our vision gets blurred, our thinking foggy and we look up and can't see Him clearly? He is there!
