True Tabernacles - and the Phony
David Weber21st July 2007
Beloved, when we read the books of Ezra and Nehemiah, it can plainly
be seen that it was only a remnant of the "church" of that
day that was called OUT FROM "the captivity" to rebuild the temple
in Jerusalem. It can also be plainly seen in those books that
this very same remnant actually celebrated the Feast of Tabernacles,
something that had been lost to the sons of Israel from the days of Joshua
the son of Nun to the very day of the rebuilding.
these things from the OT are allegorical, and are written for our
admonition - the saints upon whom the end of the age has come. In
these things, we can see allegorically that God is building
something very awesome in our day -- a dwelling place for
Himself, and He gives vision for this building project through understanding and
celebration of the true Feast of Tabernacles.
I say here,
"true Feast of Tabernacles," because there is another Old Testament
allegory which reveals there to be a false feast; a phony one. That
allegory can be found in the story of king Jeroboam; a type of the
spirit of antichrist working through church leaders today. Let me share
with you just a little bit about this...
King Solomon was
greatly blessed of the Lord, but he did not follow fully after the Lord as did
his father David. No, Solomon's wives turned away his heart after other
gods and he built high places to worship those dreadful things, so the Lord
said that He would tear the kingdom from Solomon and give it to one of
his servants. The Lord promised to leave Solomon one tribe for David's
sake, though. So after Solomon died, Jeroboam, Solomon's former
servant, was raised up to be the king over ten tribes in Israel,
while Rehoboam, Solomon's son, was given reign in Jerusalem over
the house of Judah and Benjamin.
Now, king Jeroboam was afraid that
if the Israelites went up to do sacrifice in the house of the Lord at Jerusalem,
to keep the feasts, their hearts would turn again unto Rehoboam. Jeroboam feared
that the end result of this would be that he could be dethroned or
even killed. So, Jeroboam took counsel with men who didn't want
to lose their jobs (or their heads) and they all came up with a plan;
something that would trouble Israel for many generations.
This plan was for
Jeroboam to make two calves of gold, something that the people could
worship "in Bethel and Dan," and something that would prevent them from
going to Jerusalem to celebrate the true Feast of Tabernacles (representative
of the sacrificed life).
Jeroboam set up the idols
and said to the people, "It is too much for you to go up to
Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of
Egypt" (I Kings 12:28).
Jeroboam then chose priests of the lowest of the people who were
not of the sons of Levi. These were not sanctified, cleansed vessels, ordained
by God for ministry to the Lord and to the people. Then, as
if all of this wasn't already enough, Jeroboam devised in
his own heart "a feast in the eighth month." This, beloved ones, was a PHONY
FEAST intended to take the place of the true Feast of Tabernacles in
Now, you're probably wondering, where is all of this going, and what is
the application for us today?
I'm getting there.
Jeroboam's people, like dumb sheep, followed their leader
right into grievous idolatry when they celebrated the feast of
Jeroboam. They had believed Jeroboam's lie that they needed not go all the
way up to Jerusalem to "sacrifice." The people believed the idolatrous
leadership that told them that they needed not go all the way with the Lord
into the sacrificed life of a true Christian, but rather, just
by bowing down to the golden calves of religion they would qualify for
"heaven" someday. These then would choose to "save
self" over entering into the fellowship of Christ's sufferings,
so they would miss out on all that the Lord had for them in the
true celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles (by the way ... most all
of the passages in the gospels which describe "weeping, wailing, and
gnashing of teeth," are describing BELIEVERS who miss out on their
Kingdom inheritance, not unbelievers being tormented in
Beloved, are you able to discern the difference between the true
reality of the Lord and the feast that Jeroboam is celebrating
even today? The spirit of antichrist has established programs in the church
system that might seem well and good and of God, but these things
are, in reality, are a deception - something devised by the
spirit of antichrist and being worked though religious men to
keep the children of God from making the journey to Jerusalem for the
true Feast of Tabernacles (which is the sacrificed life).
ones, Satan, just as Jeroboam, has devised a counterfeit feast to keep God's
people from entering into the fullness of their inheritance in Christ. This is
revealed in many places in the scriptures, even as "Vashti's Banquet,"
which I have shared on just recently.
Are you hearing what the Spirit is saying through this, beloved? I
surely hope so.
Are you able to recognize yet the golden calves of religion which
are keeping many Christians in a perpetual state of spiritual infancy? I
surely hope so.
Are you ready to leave those things yet so that you can go
on with the Lord into the fullness of the Feast of Tabernacles? I surely
And what about the golden calves of your own choosing? Are you ready to
leave those too?
I surely hope so.
